Usually a visit to any doctor isn't the most pleasant of experiences for anybody. I mean, if we felt good then why are we at the doctor's in the first place? I do realize that doctors and most of any medical staff have to deal with some of the worse moods people can have, day in and day out. I've worked in the medical field for many years and have seen my fare share, believe you me. That is another (or several) stories for another day.
Buckle up, it's a silly ride from here on. No seriously though, this stuff really does happen to me.
Many, many moons ago, when my first born was little, she had a fever that sparked a trip to an ER. Yeah well, maybe I kinda sorta suffered with the new mom worryitis syndrome. I was sitting there stressing when I noticed people who came in after me had started to go back. I went to the receptionist (probably not with my most pleasant demeanor...) to ask how much longer and she shifted through her papers to try to find out. She then began to apologize because some how our paperwork mysteriously ended up under the bottom of all the others. I just stared at her (okay, okay maybe glared is more appropriate). I didn't know what to say.
Anywho, shorty after the paperwork fiasco, they ushered my daughter and I back into a room/waiting to see a doctor area of sorts. As we were following a nurse to our area I noticed signs on the doors and walls. One door had a pretty wooden plaque that said it was dedicated to the city that certain hospital was in. Upon second glace, I noticed another sign on that same door; it said Janitors closet....lol..um okay. Just oodles of confidence was a brewing in me by that point.
Well, we finally we made it to our little waiting room area I was hoping to see a doctor soon. Come to find out, no beds were available so we were shuttled into the supply room. The room looked as if it was being remodeled, at least I had hoped it was because drywall dust and pieces of drywall were randomly strew about. I didn't have the nerve to ask.
We were able to meet all kinds of interesting people though, just by them coming in and out getting all their supplies and stuff. No one seemed too surprised that we were there. We just kind a waved and smiled whenever random people popped in and out. There was a bed there so I assumed it was commonly used. Again, I didn't ask. Okay, remember that scripture..think it not strange....lol...yup strange things definitely are happening here. Doctor came in and we found out it was just an ear infection. Pippop, wrote a prescription and sent us on our way. Yeah, fun times.....
Well, all I can say about that experience is although my memory isn't the best and I seem to randomly forget things (like where I put all that stuff up “to be safe” at), I definitely remember the time due to an ear infection, I learned that a specific city dedicated a very nice, I'm sure well meaning, wooden plaque to the the Janitors closet. Shew we, who knew an ear infection would be so entertaining.
