Camping
Okay, this one isn’t my story but I have permission of the person of the story to post about it.
Once upon a time in a galaxy far far far away,,…. Wait NO, it happened here. Lol. I just always wanted to start a story like that, hum can you tell I like science fiction? Anywho, onwards…. This story is based on true events the names and places have been replaced to protect the innocent or in this case the hilariousness of the situation.
So I have a friend, let’s just name her Friend that enjoys camping with her family and friends. They try to go a few times every summer. Well, Friend had this very old but workable camper. Friend and her husband (hereby dubbed Palshub), loaded up the fam, gathered the necessary items (food and such) and headed out to go camping.
They arrived at one of their favorite (or at least it use to be), campsites only to find out it was crowded that particular weekend. Their favorite spot that was their usually goto spot was already taken. So they asked the caretaker where they could setup. After a few tries in various spots they finally decided (or forced whichever way you would like to word it), on a cubbyhole type spot. Yay!! Finally they can get set up. It was an okay spot, except well they were smack dab in the middle of a bunch of new fancy RVS and here they sit in their little beat up old camper.
Ah, okay, no biggie, a little embarrassing but hey they weren’t about to let that ruin their vacation.
Day 1. Setup Camp while everyone around them stared at their out of date camper. Family went to explore and utilize all the options available for the campers there. Had fun, wore out, time to settle down and get something to eat. Friend walked around and found a secluded spot up a dirt path past the RVS that she used to pray every day they were there.
Ate something and started settling down for the night. A couple people decided to camp out in tents while others of the family decided to sleep inside the camper.
Here comes the RAIN. And I do mean rain. It leaked inside the tents , it leaked inside the camper. The blankets were all wet, the clothes were wet, the family was wet.
Okay, okay. Not the best start but hey it's a vacation let's not let one bad day ruin all of it.
Day 2. Wake up (or get up after long wet frustrating night), Start hanging up blankets and clothes all over campsite ever in hopes of them drying.
Alright folks, I want you to visualize this clearly, so close your eyes, Imagine this, on your left a huge New Fancy RV, on your right another just as huge just as new RV, in front of you across the little dirt path several more New RVs, then in your camp your vehicle with an old camper with a line strung and blankets with clothes hanging up everywhere. Lol….yup. Not the finest or most enjoyable moment for Friend.
It's a new day, so they have another day to redeem this so far. They all went out and enjoyed the activities one does when they go camping. Come back to the campsite to eat, relax and start putting the beds back together and hope for no more rain. No biggie, they got this.
Well..... there wasn't any Rain so yay. They all settle down, things start to get quiet all around, lights on the fancy RVs start turning off, then all of sudden, very loudly everyone hears the sounds of Crack BOOM BOOM! The bed Friend and Palshub was on broke and yup they fell down. Literally the bar under the bed just snapped. So needless to say Night 2 did not provide much more sleep than Night 1 so far.
Tired, Cranky and again embarrassed, They got up to pull the awning back in so they could just go home and the broken part of the bed frame was preventing the awning to go back all the way.
Sooooo, Palshub already sleep deprived, frustrated and embarrassed got a hammer and started beating the fire out of that awning to try to get it to go back up so they could leave. See they couldn’t go anywhere until that thing was put back up. Palshub working on that thing and kept hitting that thing for hours. HOURS!!! Mind you while all the park could watch and see what was going on.
One of the Fancy RVs dudes went over and offered to help. Palshub was so beyond angry at that point that he just keep hammering and did not respond. Well the RV dude was kind and wanted to help but there really wasn't much he could do so he just kinda stood for a few. I guess he felt kinda lost as I'm sure Friend and Palshub did as well. There are all moments in life sometimes were we all kinda feel lost and helpless. However, that doesn't mean we have to stop, just press on and persevere, it will be worth one day.
They evidently got the awning up, left and have not been camping since. In fact, Friend said if she had to go anywhere else in that camper she was NOT going. Lol,
Oh mercy, what a trip to remember. However, seems like the good Lord had a reason. Remember, when I said Friend found a spot to go pray everyday. Well we’ve heard that one of the RVS that she walked past every day had a guy there that use to be a Christian but had backslid. Not sure what ever happened to that guy if he turned back to God or not but you never know, seeing someone pressing on and seeking God may have touched his heart enough to get him to pray again.
Morale of the story is you never know how your actions even in the midst of chaos will help others. Friend and Palshub was humiliated, embarrassed and beyond frustrated on that camping trip but the good Lord still used a simple act to hopefully spark someone else’s flame for God.
Remember folks, God’s in control even in the chaos of life.
